Spirent Test Expert 1.30 released

STE 1.30 was released a few days ago. It’s a free tool containing pre-canned test cases. There are nine new test cases in this release:

Applications and Security

  • HTTP Transfer Rate
  • Maximum HTTP Transfer Rate
  • HTTP Adaptive Streaming Video Bitrate Validation under Scale

Data Center

  • Load Validation Test
  • Maximum Forwarding Rate Test
  • DCBX Feature Negotiation

Multicast

  • RFC 3918 Multicast Join/Leave Latency Test

Y.1564

  • EtherSAM Service Performance Test with Turbo QoS
  • EtherSAM Service Configuration Ramp Test

There are also enhancements to the back-end/infrastructure of the software:

  • Licensing: Spirent Test Expert now supports the ability for test cases to be licensed. The licensing mechanism is not applied to any test cases in STE 1.30.
  • Authoring Enhancement: Authors creating test cases using the custom tool to export test cases to Spirent Test Expert may now add diagrams to their test cases

Usability enhancements :

  • Copper ports, when available, are now the default
  • STE automatically finds the installation of Spirent TestCenter and Avalanche when installed on the same machine
  • Upon installation, STE prompts the user to set the appropriate paths within the preferences, with an option to select default paths
  • STE provides an option to launch or not launch after installation
  • Buttons are now larger than previous release
  • A basic progress indicator is now provided
