In 2010, DDoS Attacks passed the 100 Gbps mark

DDoS Attacks Exceed 100 Gbps, Attack Surface Continues to Expand

SecurityWeek echoes an Arbor Networks annual report where the company reports that, for the first time, DDoS attacks in 2010 reached 100 Gbps – quite the milestone if you consider that 5 years ago the volume was more like 10 Gbps.

Now of course, Arbor is a NEM that focuses on DDoS so the report needs to be taken with a grain of salt – but still, it’s hard to deny that we heard about dozen of DDoS attacks (or CYBER WARFARE!!11!!1 as FUD-lovers refer to it), more than any time before.

Still an interesting read, as the points the report touch on some other topics that are good indicators of the 2011 security trends.
